How to read an exhibit

The roof is the promise. The columns are the record. The gap between them is the exhibit.

  1. Promise

What was said, by whom, and when, in their own words where we can.

  2. Record

What the public record shows: official data first, court findings next.

  3. Reply

The government’s defence, stated fairly and in its own terms.

  4. Status

Where the matter stands today: open, closed, in court, moved.

  5. Sources

Every line links to a document you can check for yourself.

Floor plan

Six galleries and a memorial room

You are in the atrium · all exhibits

The colonnade

Twelve columns under one roof

Each column rises as far as the record reached toward its own promise. Six promises can be measured. For the other six the record is missing, withheld, or still in court, so their columns are drawn in outline.

  • Solid: the share of a measurable promise the record shows
  • Outline: the record is missing or contested
  • Dashed line: the promise, at full height

स्मृति कक्ष · Memorial room

Some failures are counted in lives

This room is kept dark and silent. Sound switches off as you enter. Nothing here moves. Each wall leads out to its exhibit, and can be shared so the count is not forgotten.

Method

House rules

Every exhibit gets a reply

The government’s defence sits on the same placard as the charge, at the same size, in the same voice.

Primary sources first

Budget speeches, RBI reports, court judgments and answers in Parliament come before news reports. Overviews are listed last.

Numbers carry their date

A figure without a date is a rumour. Where an official toll was revised, the exhibit says so.

No games in the memorial

No scores, collectibles or achievements anywhere, and no music or motion in the memorial room.
